Does a photographer have to have a 107 license for a drone?
Within our service area, Tipp City, Englewood, Vandalia, Fairborn, Beavercreek, Riverside, and Huber Heights commonly present this issue. Huber Heights, in particular, can fall within both Class C airspace (Dayton International Airport) and Class D airspace (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). Operations in controlled airspace require FAA authorization, which can take several days—or longer—to obtain.
We hold a wide-area airspace authorization that allows us to operate within Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB) Class D airspace with one business day's notification and approval from WPAFB Air Traffic Control. We also have no approval wait period for areas in Class C Dayton International Airspace in areas such as Tipp City, Englewood, Vandalia, and others however, we are limited to grid altitude levels and can request higher levels, which may be needed based on property size. This requires a 72-hour notice for further coordination. These approval timeframes are significantly shorter than for pilots who do not possess this advanced authorization, for whom approval can take several days to several weeks.

The area i need drone services in is close to an airport and/or a military base
Per 14 CFR 107.12, any remote pilot who is performing commercial work must possess a part 107 certification. A recreational pilot does not need a license.
Both the company and/or person who hires an unlicensed pilot for a commercial drone activity are subject to penalties, along with the pilot, per 49 U.S. Code § 46306; both can be fined and/or imprisoned. It is important to note that this is classified as a Class E Felony under 18 U.S. Code § 3571
DO I get print licensing and rights to my photos
In most cases all of our services include digital download, online gallery, and print rights to the customer.
CAN I HAVE A DRONE OVER PEOPLE AT MY EVENT
The short answer for most drone operators is: you cannot conduct sustained flight directly over people or moving vehicles unless permitted under 14 CFR §107.39 and §107.145. This requires either an FAA-issued waiver or operation of an aircraft that complies with one of the FAA’s four approved categories (Category 1–4).
As a simple rule of thumb, any drone with exposed, moving propellers does not qualify under Categories 1–4, and therefore requires a waiver to operate over people or moving vehicles.
We hold an active 4-year FAA waiver, with verified risk mitigations allowing us to safely and legally complete these assignments without delay—provided no additional airspace authorization is required. Operations in controlled airspace do require FAA authorization, and approval timelines can range from one week to as long as 60 days.
